Our Garage Floor Coating Installation Process

Long-term performance starts with proper evaluation and prep. Here’s a clear overview of how we approach concrete preparation, repairs, and coating installation.

Not Just a Coating — A System

Not all coatings are created equal — and a great garage floor isn’t about picking one miracle product. It’s about using the right materials in the right layers.

Our multi-layer system is engineered for maximum adhesion, durability, and long-term performance — especially in tough climates like Minnesota.

Epoxy at the base, polyurea on top — with two clear coats standard.

We don’t just seal your floor — we build it to last. Epoxy bonds deep into the concrete for unmatched adhesion. On top, we apply two layers of clear polyurea/polyaspartic, not just one. That gives you a finish that resists chemicals, salt, UV, and wear for years to come.

Our 6-Layer Floor System

  1. Concrete–You’re existing slab.
  2. Moisture Vapor Barrier – Blocks rising moisture before it causes damage.
  3. Wicking Epoxy Primer – Bonds deep into the concrete for long-term adhesion.
  4. Color Flakes – Decorative solid or multi-colored chips for grip and texture.
  5. First Clear Coat (Polyaspartic)–Flexible, durable, and impact resistant.
  6. Final Polyurea Topcoat – Fast-curing, UV-stable, ultra-protective finish.

Why This System Works

  • Stronger Bond – Epoxy handles 10 MVE of vapor pressure per square inch (vs. 3 for
polyurea). That’s crucial in Minnesota garages, which commonly push 3–5 MVE daily.
  • More Build, More Grip – Epoxy cures slower, allowing flakes to settle deep and build a thicker, more textured surface.
  • Double Topcoat Durability – Two clear layers offer stronger resistance to wear, weather, and UV damage
  • Lifetime Adhesion Warranty – Our supplier backs it because it works — and so do we.

Step 1: Evaluate the Slab

We assess the condition of the concrete, including cracks, divots, moisture risk, and any areas that may need repair or replacement.

Step 2: Concrete Preparation

We prep the slab to create the right surface profile for adhesion. Proper prep is the foundation of a durable, long-lasting coating.

Step 3: Repairs (If Needed)

We address cracks and divots before coating. For severe cracks or movement, reinforcement options may be recommended.

Step 4: Base System Installation

We install the selected coating system based on your goals, environment, and timeline.
